Access Fund Technical Trail Workshop

EPAC was excited to secure a grant and matching funds to host a technical trail workshop run by Access Fund. The workshop started on the evening of August 25, 2023 with an indoor, classroom style presentation. There, participants got to know one another, explored the work Access Fund does and learned the basic concepts of trail work and sustainable design. On Day 2 we headed into the field at High Rocks Vista for a site evaluation, tool a  nd safety briefing as well as identifying project areas and new skill sets.  On Day 3, we continued using our new found skills and also talked about volunteer management.

While Access Fund is focused on climbing, the workshop was designed to meet the needs of a wide audience. We welcomed stewards across the conservation spectrum, including:

  • DCNR
  • Bucks County Parks
  • South Central PA Climbers
  • Southwest PA Climbers Coalition
  • Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition
  • Western Maryland  Climbers Coalition
  • Friends of Wissahickon
  • Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club
  • Birdsboro Area Climbers Association

We could not have made this event possible, for FREE, with out our partners from Bucks County Parks who donated cabin lodging.  As well as Regional Trail Workshop Grant from WeConservePA; funded in part by WeConservePA and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Pennsylvania Recreational Trails Program funded through the Federal Highway Administration.
