Boxcar Rocks

About The Area

Boxcar Rocks, also know as the Chinese Wall, is located on State Game Land 211. It gets its name because of the blocky nature of the rock which look like piled up boxcars. This massive line of rock is made up by a portion of the Sharpe Mountain ridge line. The thin, knife-like top of the ridge also has little pinnacles rising from it. The rock is a conglomerate in which you will find quartzite deposits dispersed throughout. While it does offer some bouldering, you will find mostly traditional routes which can be top roped.

PROJECTS

June 5, 2022 – This past Sunday, EPAC and 8 dedicated volunteers came out to remove graffiti from the beautiful formations at Boxcar Rocks.  Overall, we removed 700 square feet of graffiti and 3 bags of trash.  We want to give a huge shout out to the Pennsylvania Game Commission who hauled in 500 gallons of water and donated the cleanup supplies, as well as the volunteers who took some time to give back to the land they love.
