High Rocks Improvement Project

Throughout the pandemic all of our public lands have seen unprecedented visitation by various user groups and the High Rock Vista area is no different. In 2020, EPAC worked with Bucks County and DCNR on much needed trail improvements throughout the park which connects Tohickon Valley Park to Ralph Stover State Park. The intent was to minimize user impact through properly marked trails as well as erosion mitigation via proper trail drainage. While our efforts were successful, there was still much more work to be done so we continued the conversation regarding improvements.

EPAC is excited to spearhead the High Rocks Improvement Project. The intent of the project is to address infrastructure needs and improve the experience for all users.

Key project objectives include:

  • Expanding the parking area. This has already been approved and will be completed by Bucks County. Time frame is TBA.
  • Exploring options for restroom improvements which includes ADA accessibility.
  • Reintroducing native plants and removing invasive species. We are pleased to partner with Kind Earth Growers, a local native plant nursery,  who will be providing consultation and plant donations.
  • Adding 3 sitting benches at the Vista area. We will also evaluate the need for benches along the trail toward Tohickon Valley Park. There will be an opportunity for memorial/dedication benches.
  • Improving the kiosk as well as adding educational signage.
  • Continuing the efforts of trail maintenance and graffiti removal. (DCNR and Bucks County have recently provided EPAC with graffiti remover.)

We invite all community members who enjoy the park to join us in helping to make these dreams become a reality!

EPAC is setting a goal of raising $5000 to help support various aspects of this project. Your contribution can be used as matching funds as we seek grants and other funding options to offset costs.
