EPAC is Looking for New Board Members

The Eastern Pennsylvania Alliance of Climbers is looking for candidates to fill open volunteer board seats. Serving on the Board is a meaningful way to give back to your local climbing community and further the mission of EPAC to steward local climbing and support the amazing community. What does a board member do?

An EPAC board member should be a passionate climber, have strong interest in protecting local climbing areas, and be dedicated to helping foster a diverse, inclusive, and well informed climbing community. Board members serve a two year term, meet bimonthly and volunteer throughout the year on a variety of initiatives.  In addition to full board meetings, members would be expected to attend regular committee meetings. Board members in general contribute 4-15 hours a month. This fluctuates seasonally and within the demands of various roles. 

Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Attend board meetings
  • Review and understand board documents
  • Volunteer your time in support of EPAC projects & events
  • Show good character and involvement in our climbing community
  • Annually contribute in a tangible way to our fundraising efforts

2025 Skills we’re in need of:

  • Organizational Leadership:  Able to organize and mobilize board and volunteers
  • Community Leadership: Creating and advancing DEI (Diversity Equity Inclusion) initiatives..
  • Communication: Social media coordination and newsletter author
  • Climbing Education: Oversee and/or facilitate our Gym to Crag Programs
  • Financial Leadership: Accounting and fundraising experience.
  • Event Planning

 

Nominations/Election Information:

Submit an application to us by December 10th. Our Board will review all applications and select a group of finalists to meet our team for interviews in early January 2024.

COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS:

Conservation & Stewardship 

This committee’s focus is overseeing the needs of our climbing areas. They do so by communicating with land managers, recruiting and training volunteers, and facilitating stewardship events. They work hand in hand with the Access Fund to make the best possible choices every step of the way.

Community Engagement

The Community Engagement Committee promotes access for ALL people. They strive to survey the needs of climbers throughout the community. They plan and host community events, educational events, and partner with local organizations and groups to elevate and support local climbers with specific initiatives. This committee began a Gym-to-Crag program this year and looks forward to growing the program. 

Finance Committee

This committee works to insure the health and stability of EPAC. They seek grant funding opportunities, manage responsible spending, and support fund raising efforts.
